If you insult or misquote my teaching, I will have both you and your parents arrested, as Pastor Ibiyeomie has said.
In the future, the general overseer of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has pledged to put anyone in jail who defames and falsifies his teachings on any social media platform.
On Sunday, July 24, 2022, the senior pastor said during a sermon at his church in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, that he would jail and imprison the offender’s parents as well.
He said, and I paraphrase: “Instead of listening to what I have to say, all those people who are using their laptops and may not be employed will wait for me to speak before they condemn me.
You won’t pay attention to what I have to say; instead, utilize the laptop. They aren’t progressing because they are all listening to what I have to say so they can misquote me, but some of the people I’m preaching to use social media. I’ll fight you in the court of law, in the arena of spirit.
I will have you and your dad taken into custody and throw you both in jail if anybody makes fun of me on social media. I’ve already decided that I’m going to do this. They are making fun of the fact that you don’t lock people up for this reason. It is immoral to misuse someone else’s words. I’m going to sue you, and I’m going to talk to my attorneys beforehand. When I tell you that the damage will cost 10 billion Naira, you’ll use every dime you’ve saved to make the payment. When someone misquotes you, don’t just accept it. Are you aware that while you’re out in public, it’s against the law for someone to snap your photo without your permission? Ask attorneys for greater information.
You are violating my privacy, therefore I’m going to sue you and use the police, the army, and everything else to find you and bring you to justice. Instead of going to church after being insulted, seize the offender, imprison him while you file a lawsuit, win the case in court, and let the judges send him to prison while wearing a green uniform. They’ll leave you alone and depart.” In the Sunday sermon, he supposedly remarked.
