“If Your Church Closes After You Die, You Have Failed Destiny” – Bishop Abioye Tells Pastors

I am sure you have seen churches that were doing very well when their founders were alive, but crashed pathetically after they were gone. I have seen churches that ended because of issues concerning succession after the founders of the churches went to be with the Lord. This is not supposed to be so.

God’s servant, Bishop David Abioye, revealed during the church growth conference yesterday for church pastors, that if your church ends after you die, then you have failed destiny. He said this is because whatever God does is supposed to last forever.

He made this comment during the introductory word, before God’s servant, Bishop David Oyedepo, preached the main message.

Why some men of God are blatant failure in their ministerial calling

This was in line with the theme of the program, Built To Last. He said that the church is like a relay race, and the founder is supposed to hand over the baton to someone else after he dies, so that the ministry can continue.

God is a generational God, so it makes sense for him to build generational churches, that keep going even after the original pioneer is dead. It hurts to see churches close down because of the infighting that arises when their founder dies. In feel all the infighting misrepresents the body of Christ, and gives us a bad name. As for me, I believe that it doesn’t have to be the founder’s son, or a member of the founder’s family, that succeeds the founder as leader of the church. Anybody, as long as God says so, can lead the church.
