Iguana, Ayamatanga and Captive of the Mighty and other Mount Zion movie characters that gave me sleepless nights in the 90’s and 2000’s

Mike Bamiloye and his wife, Gloria would be remembered for not only winning souls for Christ through their movie ministry, but for also revolutionising the Christian movie industry in Nigeria through their blockbuster movies that were released in the late 1980’s, early 90’s and 2000’s.

The couple who founded the Mount Zion Faith Ministries as led by God have touched the lives of many, while winning them over to God through their faith-based and spirit filled movies that were written and acted through the inspiration of God.

These movies which were made to cut across diverse ethnic groups and religions had captivating storylines, endearing and sometimes scary characters that gave many persons sleepless nights back in the days.

Even as a pagan, there was no way you would see any of the movies done by Mount Zion Faith Ministries without feeling any form of conviction because the movies had storylines that focused on the consequences of going against the will of God and His laid down commandments.

Listed below are some of the scary Mount Zion movies Characters who gave me sleepless nights as a growing up child back in the early 90’s.

1.      Iguana: This was the main character in the movie titled, ‘Captives of the Mighty.’ In the movie, a lady suffered several miscarriages not knowing that she had a spiritual husband named Iguana. Her spiritual husband even claimed to be her lord with evidence of the children that she bore for him.

2.      Ayamatanga: This was one of the main Characters in the movie titled “Agbara Nla” which was written and directed by Mike Bamiloye. The movie was released in 1992 while the English version,  “Ultimate Power” was released in 1994.

3.      Ishawuru: This was another terrifying character in the movie, “Agbara Nla”. Ishawuru was the name of the herbalist who terrorised the villagers and refused for Christianity to penetrate the community. This role was played by Mike Bamiloye himself. As a child, Ishawuru would definitely send chills down your spine.

4.      Titi: This was the name of the Character, an agent of darkness from the marine world who was sent to destroy Bayo by getting married to him. Bayo was a young vibrant evangelist whose desire was to win souls for God. He was a constant threat to the kingdom of darkness.

5.      Lucifer: Whoever it was that played the role of Lucifer in the Mount Zion movies obviously did his best at not only giving me sleepless nights, but ensured I obeyed my parents and stayed away from dark places. The Lucifer was always scary, brutal and ruthless. The weeping and gnashing of teeth was a nightmare on it’s own. The movie, “Lost Forever” readily comes to mind
