The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on Sunday, February 21 held a special prayer walk across the world over the rising insecurity and other challenges confronting Nigeria.

Addressing journalists during the procession, Pastor Tunde Benjamins-Laniyi, the pastor-in-charge of the parish, said the prayer intercession was a mandate of God.

He noted that the procession is also taking place in the over 40,000 parish churches of the RCCG in 198 nations across the world.

According to him, Nigeria needs divine intervention right to overcome the present challenges.

His words:

“It’s a mandate that God almighty gave to us to pray everywhere. RCCG has a presence in over one hundred and ninety nations of the earth. What we are doing here is being done everywhere.

“We walk round and pray on four cardinal points, our national security, personal breakthrough, revival, and against COVID-19.”

While appreciating the clergy, parishioners who participated in the prayer walk in Abuja, Pastor Benjamina-Laniyi charged Nigerians to continue praying for the nation and the leaders, noting that it is only God that has the solution to the problems confronting mankind.

He, however, called on Nigerians to adhere to all government-approved protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19, noting that it is important that Christians in Nigeria respect the authorities in the land.

Meanwhile, the federal and state governments in Nigeria have recommitted themselves to addressing the mounting insecurity in the country.

At a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) on Thursday, February 18 presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, the governments agreed to ensure swift investigation, arrest, and prosecution of crime perpetrators.
