A Priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, Reverend Father Oluoma John in his recent ministration admonishes his congregation to always pay tax to the government because they will benefit more than paying tithe. According to him, when more people are taxpayers, the appropriate authorities will utilize such revenue in providing infrastructures for the overall benefit of the citizens.
According to the Cleric, economies with more taxpayers will naturally outperform those with fewer taxpayers. To buttress his point, the Cleric referred to Romans 13:1,6 which says ‘Obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All government has been placed in power by God. For these same reasons, pay your taxes too, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing’.
