It’s not every pastor’s wife that should climb the pulpit – Faith Oyedepo Give Reasons

It is very popular to see a woman, who is married to a pastor, get ordained as a pastor as well. It’s not as if that is a wrong practice, it just makes me wonder if the ordination of the wife of a pastor was done as a special favour to the pastor by God! Yes, it’s possible for God to call both the husband and wife into full-time ministry, but I wonder if that is God’s usual practice.

Faith Oyedepo seems to think otherwise. She said that not all ministers’ wives are supposed to have a pulpit ministry, but they are all supposed to stand by their husbands, as they fulfill the mission of God together.

The wife can bring support to her husband in different ways. She can pray for him, encourage him and perhaps fill in if there is an emergency change of plans.

The success of a man’s ministry is dependent on his wife. I mean, nobody will like to follow a man whose wife does not support him. The support that a wife will give to her husband is the actual role a wife should play in her husband’s ministry. I believe it is possible for a woman to have a pulpit ministry in her husband’s church, and yet fail to support her husband when he needs it.

So, it doesn’t matter whether or not a woman is given opportunities to minister on the altar of her husband’s church. Her God given role is to give support, whether in front of the whole world, or behind the scenes.
