It’s no longer news that the Living Faith Church headed by Bishop David Oyedepo allegedly sacked 40 pastors for failing to grow the church of God. This sole reason has given some people the chance and opportunity to talk ill about the Christian religion, with their point centering on the business aspect of the church.
However, a responsible Nigerian writer and social media personality known as David Hymar as come out to clear the air about the issue. According to him and with his wealth of experience in the church as an assistant cell leader, the general overseer of the Winners chapel is right to sack the unproductive pastors.
He said: “When a pastor is sent somewhere, he’s expected to “bear fruit”. Which means to grow the place he’s in. He’s expected to show impact. To show workings. How many souls is he bringing in? Is the church growing? Is he raising men?” If he fails to do any of these, then he has no business taking salary from the church. He further buttressed his pointing by making citations from the bible where even Jesus talked about the church as a business and condemned some of his followers for being unable to heal a lunatic boy.
Truth be told, there’s no amount of tithe the pastors will accrue that’ll move someone who already has a private jet and lot of legal businesses that his fetching him money. There’s just some misunderstanding about the world ‘growth’ which literally means new converts or members.
