Recently, the two prominent pastors, WF Kumuyi and Enoch Adeboye of the Deeper Life Bible Church and Redeemed Christian Church of God respectively, have been making major headlines in the media. Also, they have been subject of discussion on all media platforms due to their activities people found faults in. Rather, the duo are being heavily criticised by people on media spaces these days.
However, I believe the scenario can be summarised to simply mean: “a kettle calling a pot black”. Not that these critics are any better or are the most righteous but it is a mission that they fulfilled to satisfy the flesh. It is shocking to see that some of these criticisms are illogical and baseless conclusions that are badly affected by human idiosyncrasy. Many times, those who participate in this act are strangers who intrude animaly.
In addition to this is the fact that most of the so called critics sometimes cook stories and spice them up with curry and pepper which they believe will boost their status, economy and make them more popular. But popular for what?
Albeit in all that happens, the two preachers of the gospel, pastors Adeboye and Kumuyi are fully armoured and ever ready to swim across the sea of boundless criticism unhurt. Really, the duo have been suffering criticisms from time immemorial.
But it is surprising to see that not any of the criticised men of God responded to the allegations which I believe would have been in a much softer way; their adherent follwers are those fixing the puzzle in their place but in an aggressive and ill tempered manner which completely overrules the idea of the duo, their lifestyle and gospel they preach.
I do not in any way condemn Mercy Benjamin for airing her mind on the ministry of Kumuyi and how much it has ruined her childhood and family neither do I condemn persons who have come to say openly that pastor Adeboye’s prophecies on Coronavirus is fake or that his son dresses like gangsters. However, I believe that this is something that could be done without staring a dust into space but some the critics of the duo have shown that they could bark more than a dog even when an answer or whatsoever does not come forth. Also, it is pathetic to see that the adherent follwers of these men of God who chose to be their advocate are complete disgrace to the message they preach and the faith they claim to belong to.
In all, perfection is one virtue that is seated on the rung distance away; however, a step at a time brings one closer to it. In essence, no one is perfect and therefore should not judge. If peradventure comes a necessity, it should be done in love with clearity and shame. Making a bunch of noise would only make the story more bitter, useless and in the course, blasphemy of God’s name.
