Suspected gunmen have killed a catholic priest identified as Reverend Alphonsus Bello after they attacked his church which is located in Malumfashi, Katsina State. The Nation Newspaper reported that the attackers stormed the church premises which is located behind Cathecetical Training School yesterday night and started shooting sporadically into the air.
They injured many people in the process and succeeded in abducting Reverend Alphonsus and another pastor attached to the church. However, the bandits killed Reverend and dumped his body behind the church. The National Social Communications Director, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Padre Mike Umoh confirmed the incident and described it as unfortunate. He mentioned that the whereabouts of the other pastor is unknown because the gunmen did not contact anybody up to now.

The lifeless body of Reverend Alphonsus Bello was found today behind the Catechetical Training School, Malumfashi.” Mr Mike Umeh added.
