Lot’s wife statue of salt still stands after 1000 years in Jordan

Remember the story if the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible? Well if you do, you’d quite vividly remember the very interesting story if lot’s wife and how she came to become a pillar of salt.

Well if you haven’t heard this story, you either missed a ton of Sunday school or you’re not a Christian. Well, the needed detail is this peculiar story is that God in wanting to destroy the city of Sodom and Gomorrah for their abominable practices without hurting Abraham’s (the good guy) cousin, lot and his family. So God asked him to flee the city and not look back. Funny thing you know with us humans, we tend to disobey, so according to the story it seems lot’s wife forgot her jewelry and in bid to get them she turned back and God immediately turned her to a pillar of salt.

Well more than 1000 years later, Israeli researchers say they have discovered the desert site where, according to the Bible, Lot’s wife was turned into a pillar of salt. This statue was found near the Dead Sea, and has been identified as Lot’s wife. The chances that this is actually Lots wife are 50-50 because, first of all, c’mon! A thousand years!? Secondly the statue stands wayyy bigger than an actual human being.But if you happen to visit Isreal and you see Lot’s wife remember to recite the blessing: “Dayan HaEmet” (Bless God who is the true judge)
