Forty-six years ago, a young man received a vision of people falling into a roaring inferno and heard the words,
“If you do not preach, every soul that falls will be your responsibility.”
That vision and words are what birthed one of the greatest moves of God through a man in the world.
Born in Jaffa, Israel, December 3, 1952 into a family that set up residence as immigrants to Palestine from Greece. Benny Hinn was raised within the Eastern Orthodox tradition and when his family relocated to Canada after the Six-Day War, he was converted to Pentecostalism as a teenager and his family got really concerned after his conversion that he was turning into a religious fanatic and the first stumbling block he would find in his Christian journey was family.
Pastor Benny Hinn was taught and mentored by Dr. Winston I. Nunes of Broadview Faith Temple in Toronto and his ministry was shaped by the ministry of Evangelist Kathryn Kuhlman, who he never met personally, but often attended her healing services. Also, Benny was blessed and imparted by pioneers like, Maxwell Whyte, Oral Roberts, Rex Humbard, Lester Sumrall, and his father-in-law, Roy Harthern.
Benny Hinn started preaching four days after his 22nd birthday on December 7th, 1974 and his stuttering problem suddenly healed and since then, He has not wavered in fulfilling the Lord’s Great Commission.
Today, Benny Hinn is known as an evangelist, teacher, author of bestselling books including Good Morning, Holy Spirit, Prayers That Gets Results and many more. He is also a very notable televangelist with his TV programme, ‘This is Your Day’, among the world’s most watched Christian programmes seen daily in 200 countries. He is reaching millions of people every single day in almost every part of the world via his popular website and ministry app.
Pastor Benny Hinn through his books, especially Good Morning, Holy Spirit has set a foundation for the journey of intimacy of numerous readers with the Holy Spirit, also he has been a great asset for the mentorship of a growing army of Christian leaders and as he was shown by God that all he has experienced in over 40 years of ministry must be passed on to younger believers and Christian leaders, he is earnestly fulfilling this mandate.
By conducting Miracle Healing Services wherever he travels, forging a growing network of pastors and laypeople through the World Healing Fellowship and building a comprehensive collection of training materials through the Benny Hinn School of Ministry, he continues a growing commitment to develop a new generation of anointed, mighty men and women who understand the critical need for God’s wisdom and power in their lives.
Through these healing services, he continues to take the message of God’s life-saving and miracle-working power around the globe evident in the amazing testimonies and massive number of audiences – one of such was in India, which was rumoured to be the largest healing service in history with audience up to 7.3 million in three services.
Benny Hinn and Suzanne Hinn, his wife (married, 4th August, 1979) are proud parents of three daughters and a son and several grandchildren.
In 2010, Suzanne filed for divorce for “irreconcilable differences”. To the glory of God, they were later reconciled and the reconciliation started in December 2011 while they subsequently got remarried in 2013, almost three years after divorce. He admitted he was not giving enough time to his wife and family and also that his wife was under a medication given after a misdiagnosis and it was causing emotional stress.
Benny Hinn also recently denounced the ‘culture of tagging figures to the blessing of God’and said, “The Holy Spirit is fed up of it”.
Benny Hinn’s ministry continue to soar and bless the life of many. Recently, in the Global Day of Prayer service with Nigeria’s Reverend Chris Oyakhilome, it was rumoured that there were over 2 billion viewers.
Pastor Benny’s ministry is also engaged in work with My Father’s House children’s homes in Mexico and Asia, as well as with feeding programs, crisis relief, and hospital care. For years, his ministry has provided food, clothing, shelter, education, and religious training for thousands around the globe (including partnerships with numerous missionary and relief agencies).
