Meet Two Children of Veteran Gospel Singer, Mama Bola Are Who Are following Her Footsteps (PHOTOS)
Evangelist Dr. Bola Are popularly called ‘Mama Bola Are’ is not a strange face in the Nigerian Christian community. She is a Yoruba gospel singer who has built a good reputation for herself. The highly respected gospel singer can be considered as one of the pioneers of gospel music in Nigeria.
Mama Bola Are was born on October 1, 1954 into the family of Elder Babayomi and Mrs. T.A. Babayomi. They are from Erio, Ekiti state.
Bola Are attended Christ Apostolic Church(C.A.C) Primary school, Erio, Ekiti and proceeded to Christ Apostolic Church Grammar School at Efon Alaaye in Ekiti state.
To concentrate on her music ministry, Mama Bola Are did not finish studying Accounting at Ibadan Polytechnic. The veteran singer was honoured with a doctorate degree in music by St. John’s University, Missouri U.S.A in July 1985.
Evangelist Dr. Bola Are started her music ministry at the age of 8. According to her parents, there was a prophecy before her birth that she would take the path of singing. She started singing before her first birthday.
Mama Bola Are started her music band on June 26, 1973 called ‘Bola And Her Spiritual Singers’. She released her first musical album titled ‘Baba Ku Ise’ in August 1977 and since then she has released over 70 gospel albums which include ‘Anointed Praise 1&2’, ‘Adura Owuro’, ‘Gbongbo Idile Jesse’, ‘Oore Ofe’, ‘Lion of Judah’, ‘Power In Praise’, etc.
Mama Bola Are was under the training of powerful men of God of the Christ Apostolic Church(C.A.C) which include Apostle Ayodele Babalola, Prophet Babajide, Prophet Akande and Prophet T.O Obadare.
In 1977, Mama Bola Are got married to Pastor J.O Are(now deceased) and they are blessed with wonderful children.
Mama Bola Are is one of the most sought-after gospel singers in Nigeria. She once served as the President of the Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria(GOMAN).
Mama Bola Are trained her children in the way of the Lord. 2 of her children are also following her footsteps in gospel music. They are identified as Zion Yetunde Are and Seun Are.
Yetunde Are is a gospel singer. She also has the passion for singing just like her mother. She started her music career at age 8.
Yetunde Are attended Omolewa Nursery and Primary School, Oritamefa, Ibadan, proceeded to St. Annes Secondary School Molete, Ibadan. She obtained her National Diploma at Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State and later graduated from Ambrose Alli University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Yetunde Are in an interview said her mother, Bola Are was not in support of her music career based on her personal bad experiences but she later agreed. Yetunde Are thereby balanced her education and music ministry with the blessing of her mother.
Yetunde Are has been a gospel singer for over 20 years. Her first album is ‘Shekinah Praise’. She has released several gospel albums which include ‘Intimacy’, ‘Call to Praise’, ‘Sing Praises to God’,etc.
Seun Are is also a son to veteran gospel singer, Bola Are. He is making waves in the gospel music industry.
Seun Are loves playing Lead guitar, Bass Guitar and Drums. He started playing musical instruments at the age of 7. He always followed his mother to musical performances and trained under her instrumentalists.
He developed this instrument playing talent and he became his mother’s bassist for years.
Seun Are studied Computer Science at Ibadan Polytechnic, proceeded to University of Ibadan where he obtained a degree in Geology. He later travelled to the United Kingdom where he studied Software Engineering.
Seun Are has played for several gospel artistes through his church, Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG) Jesus Embassy Ibadan. He released his first album, ‘No One Like Jehovah’ in 2013.
Seun Are has shared stage with popular gospel artistes both in UK and Nigeria. He is well-seasoned gospel musician.
