SCARED OF PREACHING ABOUT HELL?
My wife and I travelled to a country on invitation for Drama Seminars and Workshops and series of ministrations. After about two weeks of drama school and workshops, the participants were broken into groups for practical drama presentations which they would display at a Drama Night before invited guests and church congregation. The night was very great as one group after the other came out presenting their inspiring drama productions. The best and the most inspiring one of the four presentations was a particular group that made a drama on Heaven and Hell with highly creative stage lighting and good stage movement. The message was very strong before the whole people. Heaven and Hell scenes were presented as unbelievers and backsliders people were rejected at the throne of God and Satan carting them to Hell, while the others were being welcomed into Heaven. It was a very strong presentation.
After the program that night, the Pastor of the church, who did not participated so much in the Drama training, came to us and appreciated the Drama Night, but made a complaint. We were astonished when he said, he liked the whole program of the night, except the particular Drama that elaborated the matter of Heaven and Hell. He said, such messages may not be appropriate for people at this time because it scare some people away fro the presence of God; especially the youths and children.
We were embarrassed at his comment. We were so shocked that a Pastor would shy away from the messages of Heaven and Hell because it could scare people away from coming to church. We told him right there, that the youths and children who were watching “Harry Porter” and “Lord’s of the Ring” and “Bat Man – Dark Knight” in the comfort of their homes and were not scared, should never be spared with the message of Heaven and Hell.
