Rev’d. Mrs. Funke Adejumo spoke to parents about the necessity and the benefits of praying for their children. Prayer is very important and parents are expected to always pray for their children.
She advised that parents should not end a discussion with their children without saying “I love you.” Speaking to the women, she advised them that they shouldn’t be breastfeeding and not concentrate on their baby. “While breastfeeding, speak to them, bless them and show them, love,” she said. She also advised them to pray for their children because no one can do that like them.
According to her, when her kids were young, she would go to their room at 2:00 pm to pray for them and anoint them. When their first child Adedotun was between 7 and 8 years old, she said that she entered their room to anoint them and saw him awake. She was surprised and asked him why he is awake, he said that he just saw Jesus. Jesus told him that he will be a pastor and an engineer and that is exactly what he is today.
“Where your hands cannot reach, God’s hand will reach,” she said. She said that she was reading the book of a popular rich man of God in America. God told the man of God that even if he becomes lazy and can no longer pray, he will still be successful. Why? The Lord told him that He has seen enough of his mother’s face in the place of prayers on his behalf.
Finally, she said even if your children are far from Nigeria at the moment, you should still pray for them because your prayers can reach anywhere. You can fast and deny yourself just to pray for your children. She said that she has an alarm on her phone that rings every day to remind her to pray for her children.
