“Nothing in this world can make me eat rice and palm oil again” – Pastor David Ibiyeomie Reveals why

Pastor David Ibiyeomie reveals that when they got into ministry, it was painful. For the first 9 years, he did not travel out of Nigeria, not even to Benin Republic. He went to a conference in Lagos organized by his mentor, David Oyedepo, and wore one suit for 6 days, Monday to Saturday. Somebody mocked him and said “he couldn’t even change his suit,” but he gave money to the person 2 years after. According to him, he did Vigils for 2 years as he got up every midnight to pray for 2 years non-stop, It was a painful process.

Speaking further, he said that they slept on foam as pastors, no bed as a married man. There was no mosquito net, and no money to buy fuel, so they open the windows and mosquitoes will bite them. They ate rice with palm oil but today, people eat in their house like a community, they just walk in, and walk out. They have chefs, not chef, they don’t have cooks, we have chefs. “There’s a difference between a cook and a chef. We have continental chefs, we have local chefs. The one who serves food is different from those people, but we ate rice with palm oil. You must go through a painful process,” he said.

Finally, many want the gain, they don’t want the pain. You can’t break any ground anywhere without paying the price. He said that many people don’t like going through that process, so they remain average till they die. It’s not going to be comfortable, it’s not going to be convenient but when you go through it, you don’t go through it twice. “Nothing in this world can make me eat rice and palm oil again, that process has passed,” he said. The Bible says, “Except a corn of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it abides alone. So there has to be a dying first before a resurrection.”
