Over 2,000 Christians go to Jerusalem for the Feast of Tabernacles

For the Feast of Tabernacles, more than 2,000 Christians go to Jerusalem.

Last week, thousands of Christians from all over the globe flocked to Israel to participate in the Jewish festival of the Feast of Tabernacles.

For the Jewish holiday of Tabernacles (Hebrew: Sukkot), the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem (ICEJ) reportedly held a celebration in the city.

For more than 40 years, the International Center for Ecumenical Judaism (ICEJ) has held this annual feast.

According to David Parsons, vice president of the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem (ICEJ), “the Feast of Tabernacles is a fall harvest feast on the biblical calendar that also has a prophetic purpose hidden within it, and that is the second coming of the Lord.” Every year, Christians from all over the world gather in Jerusalem to celebrate the anticipated return of Jesus.

More than two thousand Christians came from all around the globe to attend, and Israeli lawmaker Sharren Haskel gave a speech welcoming them.

Haskel said, “The Jewish people didn’t have many friends throughout history. They had a few, but not many. And to see thousands of people, Christian leaders and believers that are coming here to celebrate with us – people who are advocating for Israel – who are bringing that message that Israel is a light in the Middle East.” And it’s crucial to me to demonstrate that these universal Judeo-Christian ideals of freedom, liberty, and equality are not just assumed.

Haske wrote in a letter to the pilgrims that their presence in Jerusalem is a manifestation of the fulfillment of prophecy.

She said that the prophet Zechariah predicted a period when people from all around the world would gather in Jerusalem for Sukkot. “Take a look at us; we’re living evidence that the Bible is true and accurate.”

She went on to say that the prophesy foretells a day when people of “all nations and all faiths” will gather in Jerusalem to rejoice. It’s in the air; you can see the people; you can see how much it means to them; and you know that it means a lot to us that we’re able to make it come true and celebrate it.

Christians who observed the holiday last week were invited to join Israelis in the annual Jerusalem March.

Thousands of pilgrims from all over the world marched in solidarity with the country of Israel on this holy day of Sukkot, the ICEJ said on Facebook, asking, “Who else missed walking through the streets of Jerusalem with the rest of the world?”

A number of visitors to CBN News’ website expressed gratitude for the opportunity to attend the festival in Jerusalem.

Andrea from Bolivia exclaimed, “I’m so delighted to be here; this place is the Promised Land.”

To be here in person in the everlasting capital of the country is really incredible,” Ashely from Zimbabwe said. “It’s hard to convey.

On Sunday, the ICEJ left the resort for the Negev Desert in southern Israel, where they “visited friends who represented the local people harmed most by the fighting in the area,” concluding the feast.

They remarked, “It was such an inspiring celebration recognizing the ICEJ’s humanitarian efforts and the ways in which the whole church may be a part of them.”
