The Senior Pastor of Power City International, Dr. Abel Damina while preaching in a video on his Facebook handle warns pastors not to convey messages of fear and guilt to believers because it is not part of the gospel of Christ. According to the Cleric, such messages amount to wickedness to the hearers.
According to the Cleric from the video, “Any message on the rapture that is putting fear in you is part of that wickedness, and it is in the same segment as tithing. We are not saying you should not give, but you should not be manipulated to give. Religious people use fear and guilt to manipulate others.
Once you are afraid or guilty, you become vulnerable and can be easily manipulated for selfish gains. That is what the teaching on tithing does. It tells you that without tithing devourers will come after you, God will be against you, and things will be tight. This fear is not from Christ”.
Speaking further, the Cleric said religion put on people yokes they cannot bear. “Nobody is saying you should not give. How can you not give when you are born of God? We do not give because we are manipulated, we give because we are matured in Christ and have discovered our identity in Him”, Dr. Damina said.
