David Ibiyeomie was born on Bonny Island, Rivers State, Nigeria, on October 21, 1962. Bolo Town, in the Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State, is his hometown.
Education
David Ibiyeomie received his elementary and secondary education at Banham Primary School and Government Comprehensive Secondary School Borikiri, both in the state of Rivers. He enrolled at Port Harcourt’s University of Science and Technology in 1980.
Training
Ibiyeomie joined full-time in the Word of Faith Bible Institute, a division of David Oyedepo’s ministry, in 1995. On April 13, 1997, Ibiyeomie established Salvation Ministries with 34 attendees. [Reference needed]
Career
Ibiyeomie began a house fellowship with his family in Victoria Island, Lagos, after completing his Bible school training at Bishop David Oyedepo’s Word of Faith Bible Institute (WOFBI). He later relocated to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he established Salvation Ministries (Glorious Chapel) on April 13, 1997, with just over twenty people in attendance.
The church moved to a bigger piece of property in July 1997.
As of 2017, Salvation Ministries’ headquarters typically saw 50,000 people on Sundays.
Ministry
David Ibiyeomie reaches millions of worshipers through his live services and television ministry, Hour of Salvation. The Hour of Salvation TV program premiered in 2001 on NTA channel 10 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, and it is currently broadcast on more than 40 television stations worldwide. Controversies
Ibiyeomie has stirred up controversy numerous times. Ibiyeomie is accused of making anti-Ogoni statements in January 2017, which prompted the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People to demand an apology from him.
Journalist Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo claimed in March 2017 that Ibiyeomie was in a relationship with Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo. Olunloyo was then detained for defamation and had his bail denied. She was nevertheless released. Ibiyeomie vehemently refuted the claims.
