The General Overseer of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, speak against reading the bible as a textbook, says no spiritual understanding can be gotten through that method of studying.
According to the video posted on his official Facebook page, the clergy man said that the major weapon of the devil is to use the weapon of ignorance. He furthered added that the devil will do everything for Christians not to see the truth.
He then a read a Bible passage from the book of 2 Corinthians 4:4, which says that “In whole the god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
Pastor David Ibiyeomie made a statement saying that “you can’t get anything from the word of God if you read it as a textbook”. Although that statement seems funny but the ingredient of truth in it can’t be ignored as the holy bible is not in the class of text books used in schools.
In conclusion, other books are read to educated the mind but the bible which is the written word of God, go beyond educating the mind down to bring light to the people which is spiritual understanding.
