Pastor Dk Olukoya Advises Men On Some Of The Mistakes They Do Make That Could Cause Marital Problems

The Devil hates the home with perfect hatred. He knew if he can destroy the home, he would be able to capture the nations. The reason lies in the fact that the home is it that makes up a nation. Marriage is the mutual coming together of two different people, male and female, with different modes of thinking and reasonability. Marriage is an institution established by God hence everything that has to do with it must be divinely orchestrated and consciously dealt with together by both spouses. Men are socially and divinely vested with the responsibility of being the head of the house but sometimes, they could make some mistakes that the enemy finds attractive and as such, the home would be penetrable for his evil vices.

1. Engaging in premarital s*x while in courtship:

One of the mistakes that men do make that might later become problems in the marriage is to engage in a s*xual relationship with their fiancee during their courtship or engagement period. God expects every relationship to be honourable and pure. That is why the Bible in Hebrew 13:14, gives the standard of a marriage, as God expects it to be. God expects all marriages to be established concerning God and each other. It must not be polluted on the altar of fornication. Some men are guilty of this. Their mistake is that the enemy capitalizes on to rob them of the blessings attached to an undefiled relationship before marriage. Since God is the same Hebrew 13:14 has vowed to personally discipline those that “defile their marital bed”, there could be problems after the marriage, having had s*xual intercourse before the marriage.

2. Breaking the Marital covenant:

If the covenant of the marriage is broken, there might not be peace in the home. The covenant of the marriage includes the necessary care and protection that a man swore to ensure during marriage solemnization. Sometimes, some men do go all the way to break the covenant that binds the home. All the covenants agreed to on the altar during the process of the wedding ceremony are divinely orchestrated. God is the witness to it. The officiating clerics during the joining of the husband and wife to be, are the earthly representatives of God, hence, whatsoever they say are spiritually backed up.

3. Having Preference & Specifications:

A fully compatible wife is not available anywhere. It only resides in the mentality of men. Men tend to picture the kind of woman they want. Some would say, a cool-headed, beautiful, slim, curvy, kind-hearted, humble and et Cetra. Such does not exist in life. Every man is expected to rebrand their wives. Also, there is no ugly woman, it is the duty of a man to lovingly rebrand their wives. Some men because their wives do not possess the qualities they had earlier pictured in the woman they want, go all the way to misbehave, maltreat and fight their wives, this is another way through which problems could enter the marriage.

4. Maltreatment on the wife:

A man is supposed to be the head of the house. Once the man has replaced his headship to give his wife a headache, it is also a genesis to marital problems. A man is supposed to be the husband; when such a man starts to present himself as a husbandman by treating the wife as a slave and dishing out several maltreatment on the wife, a series of problems would be the centre of the marriage.

5. Involving third parties:

Involving third parties in any marital conflict is another disastrous element in a marriage. Such could sometimes be initiated by a man in the marriage, most especially when there is a prolonged issue of childlessness and the families of the man have taken this as an avenue to penetrate his home. This situation requires mutual agreement between a man and a woman in the marriage. But, if a loophole has been created as a result of the man allowing the infiltration of his family pressure to surmount his grip ok his home, the family could collapse.
