Pastor Emeka Anslem Speaks On What Transpired At Pastor Edu Udechukwu’s wedding when he sent out the Dj for playing a type of gospel music

“Pastor, I’m a gospel singer and I have followers. But some people complain that my songs sounds too secular to be a gospel song. What do I do?”

I’m guessing this is about the recent trend about a pastor that sent a Disc Jockey (DJ) out of his wedding reception because the DJ played a song that sounded secular.

First, let me appreciate gospel artists like Limoblaze for their unconventional approach to gospel music. You need to meet some of our young folks who the world would have trapped if not for unconventional gospel singers. I particularly witnessed a deliverance case, and it wasn’t funny at all.

The teenager involved loved rapping but her parents didn’t buy the idea. Knowing this, she had to find a way to secretly satisfy her desires. She downloaded loads of secular rap songs on her phone, most of which contained explicit lyrics. They just made her feel rap music was associated with evil. It’s either they used snakes, skulls, demonic figures, guns, or a blooded knife for their album art, and since she loved rapping, it was easy for her to accept. It wasn’t long before she contacted a demon spirit, she became very ill, her organs were gradually failing, and death was about taking her. One of the songs she was listening to at the time even spoke about how pleasurable it was to die. I’m guessing that’s why she suddenly wanted to die; that’s right, a teenager thought it was okay to die.

After the deliverance, singers like Limoblaze became her go to mentor. She finally met people who were unconventional. Her parents understand better now, so they give her all the support she needs. The last time I heard of her, the whole family couldn’t sleep at night because a loud cry was coming out of her room. When they rushed to check what was happening, they found out that she was actually praying and got caught up in the spirit. And all she was saying was, “Lord, I cannot do this on my own, help me Lord…”. Today, she’s released her first track, and it’s beautiful.

Many of this young people don’t believe their talents are useful in the kingdom because some sects of Christians created a mental blueprint of how their talents should be used. Unconventional gospel singers have done great work keeping these young people within the body. Surprisingly, many of these unconventional “Christians” even love God more than the conventional ones. They practice the scriptures more than you can even imagine.

When I started writing books in 2014, some Christians adviced that it was not the conventional way and that I should follow the order. For some reason, my spirit didn’t agree. If you’ve read my books, you’d notice I don’t waste people’s time by writing acknowledgements, preface, foreword, and sometimes even introduction – depending on the title, I just go straight to the point. Today, I’ve authored over 50 life transforming books. My approach to writing isn’t conventional at all, I just let the Spirit of God flow without restrain.

Speaking of the Spirit of God, The Holy Spirit is not a conventional Spirit, His ways are past finding out. The earlier we understand this, the better we maximize our purposes in this 21 century.

That said, don’t give up on your style just because a group of people don’t like it, you are not sent to everybody, so focus on those whom you were sent. Moreover, the pastor didn’t stop the song because it wasn’t gospel, but because it wasn’t his style, and that’s acceptable. The only reason why the matter became a trend is because he requested that the DJ be changed, otherwise, it wouldn’t have mattered.

So, let’s have the mind of the Spirit. There’s so much we can accomplish if we don’t constrain the Spirit of God to one pattern.

I hope this has brought enlightenment to someone.

Remain ever blessed, in Jesus precious name!
