Pastor Kumuyi once had his Bible Study, At the Redeemed National Headquarters, Ebute-Metta

Many people aren’t aware of the fact that Pst. E.A ADEBOYE and Pst. W.F. Kumuyi have been both friends for over many decades now.

Pst. E.A Adeboye born on 2nd March,1942 was a good spiritual son to Pa Akindayomi. He was also a lecturer at the University of Lagos with his Christian friend Pst. W. F. Kumuyi. They were in the same department at the University.

Pst. Kumuyi started Bible study within the staff quarters in the year 1973. The set of persons that gathered at the meeting were passionate young people who were seeking to know more about God. Pst. Kumuyi was deep in the knowledge of the scriptures such that people from different denominations started trooping into the campus for the Bible Study.

Soon after, there was a sporadic increase in number of the congregants and complaints from fellow staff within the quarters got to the school authority.

Pst. W.F. Kumuyi was summoned by the school authority to ascertain the genuineness of the complaints from fellow colleagues within the quarters. He did explain to the management of the school what he was doing with the people he gathered within the staff quarters.

However, the growth of the Bible Study became alarming such that he needed a better and bigger place for the gathering. Bro Enoch as Pst. E.A. Adeboye was fondly called then, approached Bro Kumuyi to fashion out how he could get a better place.

Bro Enoch Adeboye pleaded with his spiritual father who was Pa Akindayomi to permit Bro Kumuyi to start using the church premises for his Bible Study. Pa Akindayomi accepted the request for Bro Kumuyi to start using the church which was situated at 1-5 Redemption Way Ebute Metta, Lagos.

Since that period till this moment Bro. Enoch and Bro. Kumuyi have been in close contact. In life we meet with people we must learn to keep in touch with old friends and network in making new ones. Life is sweet when you have good ones.

By 6thJune, 2020 Pst. W.F. Kumuyi will be 79 years of age. It will also be a time of sweet connect between the two great friends.
