Pastor Kumuyi while preaching, spoke about the parable of the Rich Fool in Luke 12:20-21 which says, “But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
He said that when God said, “Thou fool” it did not mean that the man does not have the wisdom, the strategy to gather the things of the world. This was a labouring, intelligent and proactive man when it comes to doing the farming, getting the crops to the barn and preserving them. He had Intelligence which is just to match the wealth of the people in the world.
However, why will God call him a fool? The cleric then said, “God called this man a fool, not because he did not have the wisdom and acumen to gather the things of the world.
He was a resourceful and hardworking man, but he was only wise to gather the things of the world, he was not wise towards God and concerned about where he will spend eternity. Who will own all he has provided after his death?”
He then said, “Imagine me at the point of death and the only things I can remember is that I’ve been a 1st class graduate of Mathematics, a teacher of Mathematics, and a preacher.
And God will wonder, is that all? If all you have is school certificates and heavy bank accounts, God will call you a fool, but if you have salvation, connection with the Almighty God and your name is written in the Book of Life, then it will be established that you are a man and a woman for the home in glory.
