She admitted that she did not have her eyes on him because, like every other minister before him, she viewed him as a man of God and was so impressed and inspired by his message that she decided to purchase one of his books, titled Home Affairs.

“I had no idea that I would be working for God in this manner. I opposed it because I believed that pastors should be in charge of people’s lives. I considered it to be an impossible burden to carry, and I did not want to be held responsible if others did not live according to the gospel of Christ. I believed that doing whatever I could to further the gospel and serve God was sufficient. I didn’t envision myself as a leader in any nation outside South Africa, actually.
