The Mountain Top University has extolled the sterling virtues of the wife of Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, who is the Visitor to the university and General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries worldwide, Pastor Mrs. Shade Olukoya, noting that her commitment to the development of the women folk and the youth in particular remains unequalled.
Addressing newsmen on the MTU temporary campus, Prayer City, Ibafo, on Monday, as part of the activities to celebrate the second and third graduating sets of MTU, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Elijah Ayolabi, said “to whom honour is due, it is given,” in response to why the choice of Pastor Mrs. Shade Olukoya, as the first and only recipient of the honorary doctorate degree of letters awardee of the institution.
Ayolabi revealed that the awardee, popularly called Mummy G.O by MFM members, has been contributing immensely to the emancipation of women through her pet project, the MFM Women Foundation, as well as supporting youths’ empowerment all over the world.
“She supports first class graduates with thousands of cash gifts every year and this year, there are 45 first class graduates, who are going to benefit from her kind gesture,” he said, adding that one may not read about the humanitarian gestures of Mrs. Olukoya on the pages of newspapers.
According to the V-C, the Mountain Top University is ranked among the first eleven best universities in Nigeria by the National Universities Commission; sixth best private university in the country; the best university among those established in the past ten years and enjoys the best goodwill scholar presence in the country.
On the issue of the seeming high number of first class awardees in private universities, Ayolabi said “we do not distribute first class and we can defend it anywhere at any time. First class graduates in private universities work for it. They pass through admission process, write exams, without favoritism.”
The Mountain Top University, which prides herself as the only university in Nigeria that runs a programme in Security and Investment, will be graduating 342 students, of 169 from the 2019/2020 academic session and 173 from the 2020/2021 session. While the 2019/2020 set produced 17 first class, the 2020/2021 set produced 28 first class graduates.
The convocation lecture, with the theme, ‘Nexus Between Faith, Knowledge and Resilience’, will be delivered by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, on Thursday, at the school premises.
