Pastor Paul Enenche of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre has urged Nigerian comedians to stop telling lies.
The likes of Ali Baba, Basketmouth, Omo Baba, Gbenga Adeyinka, Elenu and Holy Mallam are fond of weaving unreal stories into jokes.
As is usual for many literatures, comedy is fiction, often the creation of the unreal and making it real.
The cleric, however, says a comedian need not turn lies telling into a trade before getting the applause of the audience.
In a video sermon, he says, ”There are those whose business is to crack jokes to make people laugh and I tell them…You don’t need to lie to make people laugh. There are many genuine stories that are hummorous enough to tell withough fabricating a thing.
“One day I just dey go, I come see somebody for….lie..lie..lie..lie!!!!”
