There have been different generations of ministers who have walked the earth, some have gone to be with the Lord, a few are already winding up on their assignments, and yet others have just begun the journey.
One of the ministers from the older generation, whose ministry has impacted a lot of Christians, both in Nigeria and beyond, is Uma Ukpai.

In a recent photo, popular gospel music minister, Dunsin Oyekan, paid a visit to Uma Ukpai, as he prepares for his revival-themed meeting, The OutPouring.

Oyekan’s visit to Ukpai does reveal two (2) things to the body of Christ, especially young ministers.
1. The fathers of faith are willing to pass the baton to those who would honor their graces.
Just as Oyekan rightly pointed out, via his Instagram official handle, “REVIVAL is a Relay Race, you must be handed the baton!”

The work of the ministry is likened to a relay race, and the mandate is transferred from generation to generation.
This is by Paul’s charge to Timothy, which reads:
“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
According to credible sources, Ukpai was already holding massive crusades in the early ’80s. In fact, in 1982, he held the Greater Ibadan for Christ crusade.
This was before Oyekan was born in 1984. Therefore, whatever Oyekan intends to achieve, Ukpai has already been there.
This explains why Oyekan had to honor Ukpai by visiting him.
2. Older ministers are accessible to young ministers who have a purpose.
Oyekan’s visit to Ukpai was based on purpose and not mere frivolities.

The graces that are released through impartation, from an older to a younger minister, only work when there is purpose in view.
Therefore, young ministers who desire to meet with older ministers must have a burning purpose in mind so that the visit can be worth it.
