Christianity is the most famous religion in the world, as we all know. In the past, there were some men that proclaimed their self as Jesus Christ or even God. Alot of people believed in them and followed them, but unlike Jesus Christ, these men died and never resurrected.
1. Jesu Oyingbo
He was a young carpenter named Olufunmilayo Immanuel Odumosu, he used to hold religious classes, this gave him alot of followers and he became popular. Immanuel later claimed he is the son of God, and that this was his second coming. He then proclaimed himself as Jesu Oyingbo.
He acted like Jesus in the bible, by telling his followers to sell their properties and follow him, they all listened and did it. Alot of his followers abandoned their families, and joined him to build a spiritual place. None of the followers left there until Immanuel died, they even changes their surnames to Immanuel.
After his death, alot of his deep secrets were revealed. It was discovered that he practiced incest that allegedly took place in the community. His son revealed that Jesu Oyingbo married more than 30 women from his community, and the members also slept with each other’s wives.
Jesu Oyingbo ran his church just like a private business, more than 400 of his followers lived in his compound and worked for him. His followers income and salaries were his private wealth, he had a lot of buildings along Immanuel Street, Maryland, Lagos.
With all the wealth and power, he failed to do the most important thing only Jesus did, he failed to resurrect on the 3rd day as he had prophesied, after his death.
2. Olumba Olumba Obu;
He started his ministry, which is “The Brotherhood of the Cross and the Star” in the 50’s. He was 38 years old, when he claimed to be the Holy Spirit from the bible.
Olumba believed he was the King of Kings and the Immortal Origin of the Univers, A supreme being. The Olumba Olumba belief was actually harmless, Members of Olumba Ministry believe he is God in human form.
On April 14, 2000, Olumba crowned his son ‘Rowland’ as the “Christ”, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Olumba later died in 2003 and was secretely buried. Uptil today, his followers believe that Olumba would soon wake up from his “sleep” and continue his work. See his Son below;
It is quite obvious that nobody can ever be like God, it is a sin to call your self God. That is blasphemy against God and the Holy spirit, let us avoid things that would bring the wrath of God upon us.
