It’s quite understandable that not many people are familiar with the acronym “CAMA” and before we proceed, let’s just go straight to the point of making it clear to a common man reading this article.

Against this background, it may interest you to know that the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria was established in 1990 vide Companies and Allied Matters Act no 1 (CAMA) 1990 as amended, now on Act cap C20 Laws of federation of Nigeria. It is an autonomous body charged with the responsibility to regulate the formation and management of companies in Nigeria.

In that regard, it carry out its functions through accredited members of Association of National Accountants of NigeriaInstitute of Chartered Accountants of NigeriaInstitute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). The commission is headed by a Registrar-General.

However, prior to the enactment of CAMA, these activities were carried on under the Companies Act 1968.

On the other hand, Bashorun Dele Momodu is a Nigerian Journalist, Media Mogul and Publisher. He’s the CEO/Publisher of the most talked about Ovation International magazine, a magazine that has been widely known and read as well given standard of to its publications to people all over the world, especially in Africa, bringing celebrities and well known people to limelight.

Mixed reactions as Dele Momodu advises RCCG and it's Leaders against joining politics

Dele is a respectable person and when he speaks, people do listen. He said a lot of things that would make you think where we’re heading to as a people and a Nation. He made it clear that Nigerian Pastors are running their churches 100% better than the way the country is being managed and to an extent he has made a point which we must readjust.

According to what he said,

“The fact is many Nigerians are loosing it. They can’t think beyond going after pastors. In what way has pastors prevented Nigeria from owning an airline. In what way do pastors prevent Nigeria from having industries.”

“Less than 0.0001% of pastors own Jets in Nigeria. —-but no, let us forget the over 70% that earn less than 50k/month and focus on the 0.0001% than own jets.”

From his Facebook page, he posted this and has received a lot of reactions from people. He wrote;

From his perspective, it was clear that if governments is run the way church leaders are running churches, things would be different and a lot more beneficial to the people and businesses. It was point clear that if the above submission is achieved, Nigeria might be a Qatar right now.

He added that “in all these argument Canaanland has had stable electricity and water supply for its over 15,000 residents since 1999 and is already on the verge of converting waste to electricity.”

“RCCG is producing 25MW of electricity. Yet your … govt you pay compulsory tax, vat, CIT, Pet Tax has not been able to give you light decades after independence.”

He mentioned that “Living Faith has more than 25,000 Staff and has never owed any of them salary! Yet your state govt that collects Allocation plus Tax cannot pay full salary.”

“Living Faith, a single Church, is schooling 16 thousand of your Citizens in Higher institutions and many more at primary and Secondary levels yet you think you have the capacity to waggle your tongue”

He also talked about his experience with the church especially when he attended a programme called “Shiloh” and here is what he said;

“I went for Shiloh all through and stayed in the staff quarters, yet it was electricity all through; for one second, water did not go off in spite of thousands that were present. On a normal day you won’t walk 20 metres before you find a segregated bin to dispose your waste.”

“The entire area was fully covered by different layers of Security with multiple CCTV and IoT enabled barrier gates. And yet your Abuja, capital of the Nation does not have CCTV yet you open your …. mouth to talk down on pastors!”

Sincerely, I was marveled by the words of Dele and I strongly believe that if as a people who have been through a lot together in the past years could come together to chart a new course, Nigeria has the potential to be great and compete favourably with other countries in the world.

He made a typical example of “between the guy that calls himself Area father and Bishop David Oyedepo Ministries International who resigned a federal job and started a Church of 3 people and has widened it to over 6,000 churches globally, over 200 schools, 2 hospitals, Over 1000 hectares farm for livestock and crop, Another farm in Igbesa and CU. With 15,000 housing Estate in progress, Water factories, Zeolite factory, One Research center, a scholarship fund, Beverage factories, 10 million books, Publishing house, Radio Station etc who has had more impact or who will have better capacity to govern the nation…?”

The story of Dele Momodu as a person is a truly inspiring one. It teaches one to never give up and to always stand for what is right especially in country like Nigeria where we have found ourselves.

It may interest you to know that in the early 1990s, Dele Momodu fought relentlessly for the entrenchment of democracy in Nigeria and for the promotion of good governance and social justice in the country.

He was also actively involved in pro-democracy activities. During the time he was wrongly accused of treason and was seriously pursued by the late Sani Abacha, he never compromised on his stance and commitment to a better Nigeria. He reportedly spend three (3) years in exile before returning back to the country.

You may also find this helpful and very interesting that Dele started the Ovation international while he was in exile and has since expanded and transformed it into one of Africa’s most popular celebrity magazines.

Momodu as a professional broadcaster has received many awards and honours to his credit and has been recognized for his work in the world of business, politics, literature, the music industry and mostly in the fashion industry in which he plays major role as an investor.

He is known to be a philanthropist. He’s been featured in the weekly column, The Pendulum, on ‘Thisday’ Newspapers and the likes.
