‘Risk to public safety’: Seattle police detain a street preacher who is reading from the Bible

Police in Seattle detained a street preacher for allegedly endangering public safety by reading the Bible openly in a park near an LGBT pride event.

Matthew Meinecke, who identifies himself on Twitter as The Seattle Preacher, was arrested and fingerprinted at a police station before being released after being swarmed by Seattle police officers while reading his Bible.

“SPD has sufficient resources to dispatch ten officers to arrest a pastor who is reading the Bible in a public park.” Because it is now such a heinous crime!” Meinecke posted a video depicting his arrest on Twitter.

“So, at this point, we can’t just do nothing. If you leave, the risk you pose to public safety by staying here will be lessened. You can hear a police officer say, “This is your last chance.”

“I don’t want to leave because I’m not in danger,” the preacher told the police.

“I was at the Seattle Center reading the Bible. I wasn’t preaching or getting people angry or doing anything else. Things are being thrown. People are causing damage to our property. “I think about ten police officers showed up,” the pastor told Discovery Institute reporter Jonathan Choe.

“It’s not your job to make me quiet and move me. Why do words hurt them so much? I just think God’s word should be used.”

The preacher also posted a video of a protester ripping pages out of one of his Bibles and yelling, “Get the f—- out of here!” Get that holy water off of my ovaries, you scumbag! Get out of here!”

Someone else yelled at him, “Forget about your f—-ing imaginary fairy in the sky!”

Next, Meinecke said, “Over here, not even 200 feet away, I saw a bunch of naked people walking around.” Naked adults around small children.”

Choe wrote on Twitter that Meinecke was also arrested during a Roe v. Wade protest last weekend. “Extremists on the far left tore up his Bible and beat him. They got away, though.”

In an online video that Meinecke posted, he said, “We have a city full of crime. We have needles every which way. Everywhere, homeless people who don’t follow the law set up camps. We’ve got assaults. We’ve got broken glass. Antifa is in charge of everything. But they have time to send 10 police officers to arrest a street preacher who is reading his Bible in a park.”
