Bishop David Oyedepo, the General Overseer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide spoke at Mid-Week Communion Service, Canaanland. He advised them to learn how to praise and thank God in every situation. He said that thanksgiving should not just come from the tip of their tongue and they should not praise God just to satisfy their emotions. “Because man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart,” he said.
He said that all healings begin with recovery and we only culminate in wholeness via thanksgiving. For everything that happens to you, you need to learn how to thank God. When things are going well and when things are not going well, thank God. “As your complaining changes level to higher realms, then to zero. Life is an adventure in phases, you pass the thanksgiving test at one phase to move to the other,” he said.
He revealed that your recovery has already begun but you have not allowed it to become perfect because of a lack of acceptable thanksgiving not mixed with murmuring. “The people were givers but they were mournful givers, so nothing was happening,” he said. He said that giving mournfully cancels your giving, there is no point wasting it.
He revealed that some fellows gathered with a mission to destroy his life physically. It was a confederacy “Let’s get rid of him, this man troubles this area”. He said that he didn’t know anything, he was having a nice time, working till 1 am and driving back home. He said that God was fighting behind the scene, and he didn’t even know there was a battle. When you walk with God, He won’t let you know there is a battle. You just are winning and conquering.
Before the Holy Communion, he asked them to lift up their two hands and ask God for flushing of every anti-gratitude issue in their life by the communion. “As you partake of this communion, that you have the Jesus kind of joy and rejoicing become your portion,” he asked.
