Some Memorable Events And Happenings To Look Back To In Christendom In The Year 2021

As the activities of the year in 2021 wrapped up, it would be great and noteworthy to revisit some happenings, that had occurred within the year. As much as human beings would continue to exist on earth, some things in their lives cannot be changed nor controlled. The reason why the Bible in the book of Ephesians 5:16, implore believers to always renew every day in prayer, for the days is evil. Among the several things that have happened in Christendom, ranging from the death of renowned clerics to several memorable events that marked the year, we shall briefly review some of them;

1. The Death Of Prophet TB Joshua:

This would go down the history of events and happenings in Nigeria that cannot be easily forgotten. Prophet Temitope (TB) Balogun Joshua, was the founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations, with headquarters in Ikotun, Lagos State. He was a native of Arigidi-Akoko, in the Ondo State of Nigeria. The revered cleric could be said to be the most controversial, and the most criticized cleric to have been around so far in the history of Nigeria as a nation. He would easily be remembered for his meritorious services in charitable activities, miracles services, philanthropy and his soft-spoken lifestyle and humility, in the face of accusations and condemnations. He died on the 5th of June, 2021, during service in his church headquarters at Ikotun. He was finally interred in the church premises on the 9th of, July, 2021, after a funeral that lasts for five days.

2. Rev. Esther Ajayi Dedicates Love of Christ Generation Church Cathedral in Lagos:

Reverend Esther Ajayi is a renowned cleric of the Cherubim and Seraphim denomination. She would be remembered for joining the white garment churches together in unity. This she did when she organized a big crusade and revival service around 2018, comprising of the two renowned white garment churches in Nigeria, The Cherubim and Seraphim Church, and the Celestial Church of Christ. She commissioned her gigantic cathedral, of Love of Christ Generation Church in Lekki Lagos, on 5th September 2021. It was a memorable event. Top dignitaries and functionaries in the society attended the activities packed event in the church premises.

3. The 2021 issue of The Experience Concert:

The Experience Concert is an annual musical concert that involves the convergence and the coalition of gospel music acts across the nation. It was a brainwork of Pastor Paul Adefarasin of The House on the rock church, Lekki Lagos. The 2021 edition of the concert was on Friday 4th December 2021, at the House on the rock church in Lekki Lagos. It was also streamed online, across social media services. A particular unforgettable scenery played out as the representatives of the Lagos state government were booed by the congregation while they addressed the occasion. However, Pastor Paul Adefarasin rose to save the day. He rebuked the congregation for their bad response to the representatives of the Lagos state government and tender apologies on their behalf. He reiterated the biblical perspective of how leaders are to be treated. They wield the sword and are to be assisted in prayers, to be prosperous and successful in their exploits.

4. The Death of Archbishop Desmond Tutu:

Archbishop Desmond Mpilo Tutu was a South African Anglican priest. He was born in 1931 and served in the vineyard of God meritoriously until his eventual death in Oasis Frail Care Centre, Cape Town, South Africa on 26th December 2021, as a result of complications from prostate cancer-related illness that has been diagnosed years before his eventual death. The Most Reverend Desmond Tutu would always be remembered for his anti-apartheid struggles, equal rights agitation, and the move for equal rights treatments of natives of South Africa. He was at the forefront of the peaceful protests, and anti-apartheid movements. He agitated for a peaceful demonstration of the rights of the citizens, which he believed would best establish a peaceful coexistence among the native South Africans and the white minorities, that comprised the apartheid government. He was very famous throughout the world. Apart from being a cleric with distinct differences and a staunch freedom fighter, among his people, he also had a flair for other areas of life activities in which entertainment was among. His voice was featured as Baba, in a South African-American animated film, directed by Duncan MacNeillie, “Jock The Hero Dog”, released in the year 2011. The arrangements for his internment is underway. He would be interred in the year 2022.
