Stop Shouting and singing when you are praying to God, those things don’t make prayer work – Rev. Fr. Oluoma Reveals why

The Priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, Reverend Father Oluoma Chinenye John, popularly known as Father Oluoma, has in a video said that you should stop quoting Bible verses, shouting and singing when you are praying to God.

The reason, according to him, is that those things don’t make prayer work. What makes your prayer work is faith. He said Jesus didn’t quote the Bible, sing or shout when he was praying to God. That was why He told His disciples to go into a secret place and that they should not shout like hypocrites if they are praying.

In the video, he said, “The shouting people do during prayer is not a symbol of faith, it’s a symbol of the distance from God. Many of you don’t believe in simple prayers anymore because you want to vibrate or shout. What makes prayer work is faith, not shouting, singing and quoting the Bible.

“If you follow the Bible strictly, the kind of prayer Jesus taught was a simple prayer. He said anyone who wants to pray should go into the secret place so God who hears and sees in secret will answer. Go through the scriptures and show me where Jesus shouted, sang or quoted Bible while praying or performing the miracles some people do nowadays”.
