There has been a very popular saying among the people, for a very long time, it is the fact that, Apostle Ayo Babalola of Christ Apostolic Church married wrongly. The saying has travelled far and wide and has even became a sort of motivational advise for people, in that, no matter how anointed they are, they must not cease to pray to God fervently before choosing their life partner. Apostle Ayo Babalola went to be with the Lord in the year 1959.
After his fame has travelled far and wide in the ministerial area of his life, he got married to Madam Dorcas Babalola in the year 1935. The solemnization of the union was done in Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State of Nigeria. It was in this same town he was later interred after he passed on in 1959 at the age of 55 years. According to records, of a truth the marriage was full of up and downs. Contrary to the belief of so many people over the years, Madam Dorcas, the wife of Apostle Ayo Babalola was not a witch.

The situations surrounding the turbulent nature of the marriage could also be obtainable in the life of any average woman, with blood flowing in her veins. She was not into the ministry with him, as in, she was not involved in his various ministrations. She was in the home front, taking care of the entire house while he was away, on revivals and crusades, which sometimes could require him alongside his team, travelling out of the country as far as Ghana and Benin Republic. In his ministrations, he could spend weeks, away from the home front. He was rarely at home. This, among several issues had culminated in the stormy nature of the marriage.
According to some records, Babalola at a time, attested to the fact that, his wife was a very good woman. But the nature of his calling had deprived their marriage the required sauce of happiness, which togetherness could only bring. As it is written about Jesus Christ about his life towards the things of God, “the love of the house of God, the words and the witnessing has consumed him”. Hence So also it was about Apostle Ayo Babalola. Jesus Christ precedes every other things in his life. All these the wife never could bear with,hence, the series of turbulence that were recorded of the marriage.
Apart from his indefatigable zeal for God and his services, Babalola has a lot of children whom he sponsors personally. These children would always flock his home and the wife had stressfully prepared food for the series of visitors that visited them to see the Apostle. Surely, as a woman and as much as the human nature is concerned, she was totally worn out of all the various stress, being experienced for being the wife of a man of God. The question that we could put to ourselves is, be it we were in Madam Dorcas’ shoes, won’t we do same?
