The Story Of How Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo Sacrificed Everything He Had To Preach The Gospel

Coming out of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, is a man, who has started a movement. A movement to make Jesus the coolest saviour on earth. A movement to show the world the truth; the truth that you don’t have to be boring to be a christian. I’m talking about the pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.

Pastor Biodun was born on 1st January 1976 in Abuja, Nigeria, to a father, who was a politician, and who wanted him to also be a politician. When Pastor Biodun found Jesus, and heeded the call of the God to go into ministry, his family vehemently opposed his decision. It eventually got to the point, when Pastor Biodun was excluded from his family’s inheritance because he refused to obey his father’s wishes. He has often told stories of how his father wouldn’t want to see him in the house, but his mother would secretly give him money to survive.

Pastor Biodun got married to his wife, Modele, who was from a very wealthy family, but they decided not to ask their families for help as they journeyed to fulfill God’s plan for their lives. He has praised his wife for staying by him, and not giving up on him, when they were very broke, during the early days of their ministry. They started the Commonwealth Of Zion Assembly (COZA), from scratch; they didn’t come out from any church, but went to the streets to minister to cultists, school dropouts and delinquents, who eventually became members of his church. He has often talked about how much he sacrificed for them, paying for their school fees even though he had a family to support on his meager salary.

COZA grew at a mind blowing speed, which can only be ascribed to the grace of God, as the spiritually hungry devoured the bread of life given to him by God, to distribute to them. His word, with his characteristic practicality, and powerful preaching, has led to the salvation of multitudes. Now, COZA has various campuses in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt and Dubai. He has always declared that his competition is not other churches, but the night clubs, sport stadiums and whatever tries to take people away from churches. In fact, when he was pastoring in Ilorin, he claimed that his church was the first to have an air conditioner in the area, even though he never had one in his house. In fact, he was leaving in a one room apartment, where his wife cooked in the toilet.

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo has told the testimony of the difficulties his wife, Modele, experienced before she was able to have children. But right now, by the Lord’s mercies, he has four children; two girls and two boys. He has been associated with leading men of God, and has credited spiritual fathers for the impact they have had on his life, like Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, Bishop David Abioye and his “friend that sticks closer than a brother”, Pastor Korede Komaiya. Here are pictures of him with his fathers and friends;

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo is a man that has made tremendous impact on the face of the earth, for the Most High, and I’m really glad that he made himself available to be used by the Lord.
