“They won’t back down, Don’t set Nigeria on fire” PFN President Pleads Kwara State Governor on Hijab Issues
The President of the Pentecostal Fellowship Nigeria(PFN), Bishop Wale Oke has issued out a warning to the governor of Kwara state over the handling of the Kwara hijab crisis, that took a toll on schools in Ilorin, Kwara state last week.
The warning was ditched out to his excellency Alhaji Abdul-Rahman AbdulRazaq governor of Kwara state, during one of its meetings at the Cornerstone city on Monday, while hosting it’s Ekiti and Ibadan chapters.
Bishop Oke cited that most of the issues the country was facing were self-inflicted due to wrong decisions. Stating that if this issue is not handled with care, a crisis may spring up in the country as a result of the hijab controversy.
He further pleaded with the state governor to handle things more delicately, devoid of politics.
“I am appealing to Your Excellency, Mr Governor, to let the sleeping dog lie. Respect the tradition and feelings of others. Avoid divisive politics that can set this nation on fire.”
Bishop Wale Oke stated that no amount of intimidation could make Christians bow to the government’s demand, adding, “Bring everybody together; don’t force hijab on our people, they won’t back down. Your Excellency, stoop to conquer; stoop for peace, stoop for harmony.”
