While preaching to his members during the Equipping and Training Class some hours ago, the Founder and General Overseer of the Deeper Life Church, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, reiterated why they don’t wear jewelry (necklace, wedding rings, earrings, bracelets, etc.) in the church. He said he has told them about it before, but he is just repeating it so their doctrine will be rooted in the new converts.
He said they don’t wear jewelry because they believe it’s ungodly and that it helps to drive their focus away from material things and push it towards righteousness and holiness. Speaking further, he said they don’t wear jewelry because the Bible speaks against it and they are preparing to make heaven.
He gave a Bible verse to explain his point. The verse he gave is 1Peter 3:3-4. It says, “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold or of putting on apparel. But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price”.
He concluded by saying that anyone who walks into the church must try to adjust and adhere strictly to the doctrine. They could also search the scriptures and pray to God for understanding.
