During this period of stay-at-home due to the current pandemic ravaging the world, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, took part in a Live Instagram Chat. This was a live video chat, and he was invited by the Lead Pastor of the Covenant Nation, Pastor Poju Oyemade. And by the way, yesterday was Pastor Poju’s birthday; happy birthday sir!
That Interview, in which Daddy Adeboye was asked seven questions ranging from his personal life to ministry and other aspects, was really powerful. I followed through the online video chat from beginning to the end, and I was really blessed, as I gleaned a lot of wisdom from the spiritual veteran and icon.
During the interview, Daddy GO made an outstanding revelation about what he spends about 90% of his prayer time doing, which is part of the secret of him getting answers to his prayers.

Daddy Adeboye revealed that he spends about 90% of his prayer time praising and thanking God!
When I heard it, I was quite marveled, to say the least. I couldn’t wrap my hands around it, but as I began to ponder on it, I saw wisdom in it.
Daddy Adeboye went on to further explain his point. He started by talking about an African proverb which generally means that ‘if you thank someone for what he did for you yesterday, that person will do more for you today.’ He went on to reveal that gratitude was a key to unlocking many doors, which many have failed to use. He said that he is usually amazed at the works of God in his life, and spends time during his prayer simply praising God, thanking God, worshipping God.
Most of us have come to relegate praise and thanksgiving to the background. When we come to pray, we just sing a song or two, say one or two thanksgiving words… all just to fulfill all righteousness… and then we get into the main business of making requests! But our father in the LORD is showing us another way – the way of thanksgiving.
And this way is validated by Scripture. You remember that time Jesus was faced with the task of feeding five thousand men, aside the women and children, and the only instrument He had was five barley loaves of bread and two fishes? (And just by the way, we all know that women are more responsive to spiritual things than men. So if there were 5000 men, then the women were probably twice that number! And then the children now adds to the number. So what we are talking about here is nothing less than 15000 people!)
Now when Jesus was faced with that crowd to feed, what did He do? He lifted up the available supply (the five loaves and two fishes) and THANKED God! Ah! He thanked God! Most of us would have started whining, complaining, and making requests up and down, but not Jesus! He looked up (above the present circumstance and challenge), put His focus on God, and thanked Him. And what happened? There was answer to that present need! The people were adequately feed, and 12 baskets were left over!

So my dear, thanksgiving is something you must begin to give attention to, if you desire results from your prayers. Learn to be thankful for what God has done for you. Don’t be that person overlooks that which God has done for him/her, focusing on the present challenge. Have you been blessed by God, then be thankful now; you can type “I thank You LORD” as a sign of your thankful heart.
