MUSIC CAREER

Travis Montorius Greene (born January 17, 1984) is a gospel musician and pastor from the United States.

Greene launched his musical career in 2007 with the Greenelight Records release of The More. He has since released an extended play called Intentional in 2015, as well as two studio albums, Stretching Out in 2010 and The Hill in 2015.2017 saw the release of the live CD Crossover: Live From Music City by Travis Greene. Greene has been nominated for numerous honors, including five Grammy Awards and 13 Stellar Awards. His music has appeared on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums and Top Gospel Songs charts.

Leading the Forward City Church in Columbia, South Carolina, are Greene and his wife.

EARLY LIFE

Travis Montorius Greene was born still on January 17, 1984 in Delaware to mother Charleather Greene and raised in Warner Robins, Georgia. Greene’s father passed away in 1989 from an aneurysm. A few years later, while living in Germany, he was revived at the age of four after falling from a four-story building.

CAREER

The More, released by Greenelight Records on December 4, 2007, marked the beginning of Greene’s musical career. Stretching Out, a studio album that came after, was released on June 8th, 2010 [8] by Pendulum Records.

Stretching Out’s release marked Greene’s debut on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart, where it peaked at number 27.

Songs like “Still Here” and “Prove My Love” peaked at Nos. 17 and 29, respectively, on the Billboard Top Gospel Songs chart.

On August 21, 2015, Greene and RCA Inspiration released an extended play called Intentional, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Songs chart and at No. 3 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart.

Greene’s second studio album, The Hill, was released on October 30, 2015, from RCA Inspiration and charted at No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel charts.

Billboard Magazine, Rolling Out Magazine, and Jet Magazine, as well as events like the Essence Music Festival, the Trumpet Awards, and the BMI Trailblazers, have all covered Greene’s ascent in the gospel genre. Greene was referred to as “the future of gospel” by JET Magazine in 2016.

Greene faced backlash in 2017 for electing to play the inaugural ball for President Donald Trump.

Greene’s third album, Crossover: Live From Music City, was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, on February 2, 2017.

By winning seven trophies at the 2017 Stellar Gospel Music Awards on March 24, Greene stood out among the other nominees. Together with gospel recording artists Israel Houghton, Jonathan McReynolds, and Jonathan Butler, Greene gave a medley of “Made a Way” at the ceremony.

Greene and Jackie Gyamfi co-pastor Forward City Church in Columbia, South Carolina, after getting married.
