What Bishop Mike Okonkwo Told Pastor Taiwo Odukoya’s Family At The Tribute To Late Nomthi Odukoya
The pain of losing a member of a family to death is always excruciating. Death has been described as permanent and irreversible cessation of human life. We have witnessed the death of many people in the society and perhaps, in our families as well.
One of the death of an individual that stroke this year was the death of Pastor (Mrs) Nomthi Odukoya, late wife of Pastor Taiwo Odukoya of Fountain Of Life Church. She reportedly died after battling with cancer.
Speaking during that night of tribute to late Pastor (Mrs) Nomthi Odukoya, the General Overseer and Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Bishop Mike Okonkwo advised the bereaved family on how to comport themselves and put their trust in God who is the Creator and giver of life.
Bishop Okonkwo said he thanked God for the numerous things He did through late Mrs Odukoya and the lives she touched but added that, it’s painful to lose such a vibrant and intelligent woman whose life was an example to those who came in contact with her. He said Mrs Nomthi Odukoya is dead and there is nothing anyone can do about it or question God for allowing it to happen.
The Redeemed Evangelical Mission senior Pastor said what matters in life is the kind of life we live and lives we touched and not necessarily how long we lived on earth.
Bishop Okonkwo advised Pastor Taiwo Odukoya and his family to look back at the wonderful legacy she left in just a this short twelve years of marriage and also look at the beautiful testimonies of lives she touched. He said testimonies of how Mrs Nomthi lived should serve as encouragement to the family of Pastor Odukoya and every member of his Church.
The founder of TREM added that God knows everything about everyone and no one can sack Him from His duties. Bishop Okonkwo encouraged Pastor Odukoya’s family to still have trust in God because He has not fallen out of His seat and you can’t take Him to court.
The Clergyman said, “when you complain and complain, He will just be looking at you. When you can’t trace Him, you trust Him.”
The Night Of Tribute was attended by many people including the Vice President of Federal Republic Of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo and the Lagos State Governor, Babajde Sanwo-Olu.
