While preaching to the congregation, the Leader of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Pastor Uma Ukpai, narrated what happened after a Governor warned never to beat his wife disobeyed him and beat her. He said he met the Governor at a church programme in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
The cleric said he asked the Governor if he still beats his wife. Instead of answering the question, he picked up his bag and went home. Pastor Uma Ukpai disclosed that he warned him that if he beats his wife again, she will die. The Governor disobeyed and beat her when they travelled to America and she died.
Having narrated the story, the cleric told all the single ladies in the church to break up with any man who shows signs of violence and beats them during courtship.
From 11 minutes in the video, the cleric said, “We were in Abakaliki for a thanksgiving service and a Governor came to greet me. I asked him, ‘do you still beat your wife? He got angry, went to his seat, took his bag and as he was about to leave, I said to him: ‘the next time you beat this your wife, she will die. They travelled to America, he disobeyed me and beat his wife on the fourth day and she died. All the girls listening to me; if you are courting any man and he shows signs of violence or beats you, sack him”.
