What you need to know about Bishop David Oyedepo @ 67

The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith church aka Winners Chapel Bishop David Oyedepo on Monday clocked 67.

Oyedepo, popularly known as Papa by his teeming followers and admirers, is a no-nonsense preacher.

He has made great impact in many spheres of life, especially in Church ministry.

His passion for knowledge and research has translated into establishment of a number of vibrant educational institutions.

Some of the institutions established by his ministry include Word of Faith Bible Institute (WOFBI), Faith Academy, Kingdom Heritage School and Covenant University.

He is currently the Chancellor of Covenant University and Landmark University. He was named in 2011 by Forbes magazine as being the richest pastor in Nigeria

Here are few things to know about his exploits:

1. Oyedepo was born in Osogbo, Nigeria, but is a native of Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

2. He studied architecture at the Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin. He also received a PhD in Human Development from Honolulu University, Hawaii, US.

3. His missionary work began in 1981. He left the ministry for the House of God after receiving a mandate from God in an 18-hour long vision. This occurred in May 1981. Before this revelation, it has been reported that he shared the gospel for the first time in March 1970.

4. The Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel International) started in Kaduna and later moved to Lagos and then to the present headquarters at Canaan Land, Ota.

5. In 1982 he married Florence Abiola Akano (now known as Faith). They have four children together (David Jr., Isaac, Love and Joys).

6. David Jr. and Isaac Oyedepo were ordained as Pastors in May 2007 by Kenneth Copeland. David Jr. is the Resident Pastor of Faith Tabernacle, Ota, Nigeria, while Isaac Oyedepo is the current Resident Pastor of Winners Chapel International, Maryland.

7. Oyedepo has written many books. He is also Chairman/Publisher of Dominion Publishing House (DPH), a publishing arm of his ministry.
