“When You Start Measuring Your life With An Unbeliever’s Life”, You Need Deliverance – Bishop David Oyedepo

With the popularity of the prosperity gospel in the Christian world today, I’ve seen a lot of Christians wonder if the message is all true. They point to non-christians, who are among the richest people in the world and ask questions like: “This man doesn’t pay his tithes and he’s very rich, why do I have to pay my tithes if I want to be rich?” This shows a wrong belief and exposure to a wrong teaching about prosperity.

Bishop David Oyedepo has said that the moment you start measuring your life with an unbeliever’s life, it just shows that you need deliverance.

The Bible gives a description of a man, who compared himself with unbelievers, and was angry because they were succeeding in spite of the fact that they were not keeping God’s laws. You can read all about the story of Asaph from Psalm 73. At first he was envious of how the wicked prospered and he was even beginning to wonder if it was all in vain to keep God’s laws and live righteously. But then, he discovered a secret about the wealth of a wicked person.

Psalms 73:17-19

“Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end. Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction. How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.”

The Bishop gave the reason why believers should never start measuring their lives with the lives of unbelievers. He said that by destiny, the world is to envy the believers.

People reacted to his statement. Here are a couple of the reactions.

The Bible teaches us not to look to anyone but Jesus. In fact, Paul said that people who compare themselves with others are not wise.
