While many people have the opinion that prophecies are words spoken by God, and hence they go after ministers who have the gift of prophecy – Bishop Oyedepo Urges Members To Pursue God

Bishop David Oyedepo, while delivering a message titled “More Than A Conqueror”, advised believers on what to pursue instead of prophecies. He revealed that God is not a joker but always means what he says and likewise says what he means.

To further enlighten believers on his advice to them, he made reference to Psalm 63:8, which says that “my soul follows hard after you, O God, and your right hand upholds me.” The man of God said that the harder one pursues God, and not prophecies, the higher one will fly. He revealed that in 1977, while reading a book written by A.W. Tozer, titled “The Pursuit of God”, God spoke to him and told him that he should never see his commands as being stressful or his instructions as burdensome, and that the harder and more determined he is in following him, the higher he will make him fly.

While many people have the opinion that prophecies are words spoken by God, and hence they go after ministers who have the gift of prophecy to tell them the word of the Lord, one undeniable truth written in the Holy Bible is that those who have this gift only prophesy in part. This means they can never reveal the whole picture or give the complete information about God’s plan or mind concerning our lives. However, it’s only the word of God provided in the Holy Bible under the guidance of the Holy Spirit that can clearly show us the very plan of God step-by-step for our lives.
