God had given every man the ability to procreate. At creation, He has established a template in everyman, to be able to further create another similar human being, in “his likeness”. The covenant of God with man in respect of procreation is to multiply, fill the earth and subdue it. Every other being created aside from human beings are made subject to his control and decisions. This is where parenting comes in. As much as man has been given power over all animals, both in the sea and on land, likewise, he is also responsible for the offspring he procreates. The number of children in which God has afforded any man to bring forth into the world is also his responsibility. He is entitled to all that they would become in life. As God has charged man to take care of everything He has created, so also he has been charged to ensure that, every child born of him must be well tutored and bred to be resourceful in life.

Dr Dk Olukoya has taken to his verified Facebook page to highlight some salient facts about parenting. As attractive and admirable as the term sounds, it must not be taken lightly. Parenting is a serious business. Whoever would become a parent must be ready to shoulder the responsibility of all that pertains to intensive and extensive care of the children. The duty of parenting is one that shall be accounted for at the end of the world. Those who were careless with the way they handled their home shall be rightly judged. They shall bear the brunt of their carelessness on their children and their entire home. Not only the children, but parenting also entails taking care of the entire family, which includes either the wife or the husband of concerned spouses. The Bible in Psalm 12:7 highlights the position of God in the life of children. The little ones are the heritage of God. Hence the Lord affirm His particularity about them in the book of Mathew 19:14, that, “… theirs is the kingdom of God”.

God has drawn an example of how He wants everyone who would make it to paradise to appear, both physically and spiritually—like children. The major reason why parenting is an assignment and a life mission is that God expects total concentration and total sacrifice of parents in ensuring that, the home is well equipped, most especially in the moral and good orientation, for the children. According to the cleric, parents would give account on how they have discharged their parental futures, as the earthly assignment that God has given them, at the judgment. In this, they would be highly rewarded, not only in heaven but also on earth. The rewards of good parentage are intensive care, a sense of fulfilment and accolades from the children and the several witnesses that knew when they suffered to take care of the children.
