Why My Church Leader Was Not Happy With Me After I Had the New Birth Revealed by Pastor Kumuyi

Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, lectured to his congregation on Tuesday about “Permanently Abandoning Ensnaring Traditions And Embracing Truth.”

In one of his sub-topics, he discussed “The Reactions Of Pretenders In Religious Traditions,” and disclosed that Jesus’ followers informed Him about how the Pharisees were upset by His statements. Consider this: when the woman accused of adultery was brought before Jesus, she was not offended by His comments. So anybody who wishes to get to paradise should not be upset by God’s message. Those who wish to alter the world and create heaven will never be insulted. They will not be outraged if the word of God condemns their adherence to traditions and the position they hold. Those who are angered are those who do not want salvation but simply religion. I hope you are not upset.

He then explained why his pastor was upset with him after he became a Christian. He stated, “I thank God for my own life because when I was born again, all I wanted was the Lord’s salvation and to share and promote the gospel to others. My Pastor was not pleased with me at the time since I was not devoting enough time to music. At the time, an organist was needed, and I was not showing up as planned, but I was looking in another path.”

“He was preaching one Sunday morning when he rebuked me immediately. I even believed he wanted me to get up, which I did, but he instructed me to sit down, and I wasn’t embarrassed because he is the pastor, and I don’t have the authority to teach him how to preach. The next Sunday, I returned to church and stayed until, due to the evangelism and Bible study I was participating in, I was told that I wouldn’t be able to stay because they didn’t want a church within a church; I wasn’t upset.”

“And I was not angry when he proclaimed my name and excommunicated me. The following week, I went to see their Overseer to discuss with him and ask why he did that, and he said what he wanted to say but my focus was on salvation and how to get to heaven. The people in our text were offended, but I will not be offended, and you will not be offended.”

Finally, he said that Apostle Paul asked the people why they should make him their enemy just because he told them the truth of the gospel, and emphasized to them about holiness. May this not be our attitude in Jesus’ name.
