Pastor David Ibiyeomie spoke about “Engaging The Covenant Power Of Wealth” at the Hour of Visitation, Shiloh 2021. He said that the love for God is the first key to engaging the covenant power of wealth. The love of God is the one God showed to us. The Love for God is the one we show to Him.
According to him, any love that does not involve your money is fake. The proof of love is the passion to give. Even in a marriage, where there is no finance there cannot be romance. I can’t say I love God with my strength and I am struggling to tithe. Tithing is a demonstration of my obedience to God. Your giving is a demonstration of your love for God. You don’t love God when you pay tithes because tithes are His own. “If you don’t tithe, you don’t have a foundation for prosperity. Every time God tells you to sow, he has a harvest in mind for you,” he said.
He further explained that when a seed leaves your hands, it doesn’t leave your hands. It goes into the future for God to multiply and give it back to you. Your seed is a photograph of your faith. God will never expect you to give what he has not given to you in the first place. He never asked Abraham to give Him his son until He gave him a son. Start from where you are. “The first offering that we had that brought us out of poverty was 50 naira,” he said. It is not the amount. Start from where you are and remain faithful, rising from one level to another. He then explained three reasons why you don’t see results after giving and they are:
1. Many of us in giving starts complaining so we don’t see the results. 2 Corinthians 9:7
2. Many are also impatient when we give. If you plant something on a day, you don’t go uprooting it that same day when you are hungry. Hebrews 10:26; Galatians 6:9.
3. There is also the factor of the wrong use of words- Mark 11:23; Proverbs 13:2; Proverbs 12:14.
