Bishop David Oyedepo, the General Overseer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide spoke at the Mid-week Communion Service. He talked about ‘Unveiling the obedience that works’ and advised his members to get set for a stirring of their spirit to see every commandment as targeting their better life in the name of Jesus. He said that the Word cannot deliver without man’s obedience. You are not ready to repent, there’s no method you can use to be saved.
He revealed that one genuine encounter with the Word is worth much more than a lifetime of labour. A genuine encounter with God will generate what a lifetime of labour cannot generate. An encounter with the Word sets you on your feet to engage it. A genuine encounter with the Word is not what you write down; it is what triggers your actions.
According to him, the Word cannot deliver without man’s obedience. You are not ready to repent, there’s no method you can use to be saved. You can be in twenty service groups; it is not equal to salvation. Revelation without application equals frustration; deceiving yourselves because nothing will come out of it. The benefits of the Word cannot be realized without our obedience. He said that there are too many believers without the benefits of redemption seen in their lives because they will not do what they know He commanded them to do. But that’s not you, your story is changing and will keep changing from one level of glory to another.
The man of God revealed that Obedience is work, obedience is not a confession. It’s a profession. Obedience is work, that’s why many shy away from it. Particularly, obedience is out of season. You must not complain; that’s work. You must be grateful; that’s work. They called it a sacrifice of praise; that’s work. Finally, he said that work is when you hold your income in your hand, it is less than one-third of your needs of the moment and you still must pay tithe. The landlord is chasing after you and all that you have can’t handle it and you have come under your obligation based on the Word to pay your tithe. You paid your tithe and then the landlord calls you and says, “I just had a feeling, you shouldn’t have to pay.
