Advocates for religious freedom have expressed concern that the reelection of Xi would have “catastrophic implications.”

After the Chinese Communist Party re-elected Xi Jinping as the leader of the People’s Republic of China, people who support religious freedom have warned of “catastrophic consequences.”

Less than five years after the National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party overturned the two-term restriction for presidents that had been in effect for more than three decades, Xi Jinping was elected to a third term as president of China and General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party last week. Due to how China treats political dissidents and religious minorities, as well as its role in the coronavirus outbreak that has killed millions of people around the world, Xi’s reelection is getting a lot of attention from the rest of the world.

For many years, China has been a one-party state totally ruled by the Chinese Communist Party, but in the latter half of the 20th century, the country demonstrated an interest in enacting market reforms, which led to its accession to the World Trade Organization.

Religious freedom activists in the United States are worried that the Chinese Communist Party’s support for Xi’s continued rule means a return to the dark times of Chairman Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution and a rise in the persecution of religious and ethnic minorities.

The East Turkistan National Awakening Movement, which describes itself as a “nonviolent international political and human rights group that aspires to restore East Turkistan’s independence to preserve the liberties and rights of East Turkistan’s people,” was founded and is led by Salih Hudayar. The region is known as “Xinjiang” by the Chinese government and the international community, and is also referred to as East Turkistan.

The East Turkistan Government in Exile, which sees Xinjiang as an occupied province, has chosen Hudayar as its prime minister as well. The East Turkistan National Awakening Movement and the East Turkistan Government in Exile have protested many times in front of the U.S. State Department headquarters in Washington, D.C. They want the U.S. government to do more to protect the Uyghurs, a large Muslim ethnic minority in East Turkistan.

Concentration camps that opponents claim are intended to deprive ethnic minorities “of their culture, language, and religion” and “indoctrinate them into mainstream Chinese culture” have been used to imprison Uyghurs. Uyghurs are now being used as slaves by American businesses, either directly or indirectly, while tales of maltreatment at the camps make headlines throughout the world. In an interview with The Christian Post, Hudayar went into further detail about his issues with Xi staying in power.

He warned that this would result in a worsening of the genocide and the suffering of our people, the Uyghurs, and the people of East Turkistan. Hudayar said to CP that “Chinese National Rejuvenation” is a component of Xi’s planned legacy and that it would “have devastating effects on non-Chinese people, including Uyghurs, Tibetans, Mongols, and others.”

Hudayar claimed that although the Uyghurs have “always been persecuted by the Chinese government since they [first] occupied East Turkistan back in late October 1949,” their treatment has gotten much worse under Xi. “It wasn’t until Xi Jinping came to power and came up with this plan to achieve the Chinese dream and achieve Chinese National Rejuvenation that Uyghurs actually faced wholesale genocide,” he said.

“Before that, it was about integrating us and attempting to turn us into Chinese. However, after 2014, we had to choose between becoming Chinese and being transported to the camps. We are tormented, sterilized, raped, brainwashed, and either we become Chinese or we die, he said.

At the Gatestone Institute, a “non-partisan, nonprofit foreign policy council and think-tank,” Gordon Chang has the title of distinguished senior fellow. The institute’s main objective is to educate the public about military and diplomatic dangers. Chang, who is an expert on China, told The Christian Post that he thought the same thing about Xi’s reelection.

“Xi Jinping is a monster who kills people. He is history’s most obstinate attacker. He just received almost limitless authority from the Communist Party. Until he is stopped, he won’t stop. Yes, we should be concerned. According to Xi Jinping, the Communist Party and he should both have complete authority over each other and over society. He vowed to keep going until he achieved both objectives.

Chang claims that Xi Jinping is organizing Chinese citizens for combat in addition to carrying out the fastest military expansion since World War II. He is leading China into confrontation, but we are unsure of his true intentions. a very bleak future.

China Aid is a “international, Christian, nonprofit human rights organization that inspires, educates, and calls people to transformational action on behalf of persecuted people of all religions in China.” It was founded by Bob Fu. He serves as its president. In a statement to The Christian Post, Fu said that “Xi’s precedent-breaking third term makes his moniker “Chairman Mao Jr.” a reality.”

After decades of dictatorship, “China formally enters the Maoist 2.0 totalitarian age,” he said. The CCP’s post-Mao goal of economic reform and openness since the 1980s has been replaced by Xi’s brutal ‘Great Struggle’ leadership style and ambition for worldwide supremacy. Under Xi’s new Cultural Revolution, the international community will have to get ready for human rights violations and religious persecution to keep getting worse and worse.

Upon learning of Xi’s reelection, former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo tweeted, “Xi Jinping assuming ultimate power is no surprise – he’s a total communist dictator.” According to Pompeo, China is “the true danger” that the military has to concentrate on.

Christians in China who don’t do what the government wants have had their places of worship taken away or destroyed. This has raised questions about how the country treats religious minorities in general.

The Vatican said over the weekend that a pact allowing the Chinese government a voice in the appointment of bishops for Roman Catholic dioceses in China has been renewed. The deal was made months after Chinese Cardinal Joseph Zen was arrested in Hong Kong for taking part in a pro-democracy rally.

Sam Brownback, a former U.S. ambassador-at-large for International Religious Freedom, criticized this agreement between the Roman Catholic Church and the Chinese Communist Party. Brownback called the development a “huge disappointment,” noting that “the Vatican and Beijing have achieved an agreement on the nomination of bishops that many perceive as a submission to China’s expanding control over religion.”

“The #CCP is at war with all faiths and aims to destroy them all. This pact is being extended since Cardinal Zen is defending himself against false accusations. Don’t give in to the CCP; instead, confront them!

By the time the Chinese Communist Party’s 21st National Congress meets in October 2027, Xi will still be in charge.
