Young Pastors Work Hard, The Revival Is Not For Lazy People – Bishop David Abioye

It seems that when you accept the call of God to pastor his congregation, you are signing up for a life of hard work. That was the impression that God’s servant Bishop David Abioye gave during the 2021 Ministers’ Conference of the Dunamis International Gospel Center, hosted by Pastor Paul Enenche.

In his message about stewardship and its role in starting and sustaining a revival, he said that a revival is not for lazy people. He commented on the amount of work the men of God of the past like Oral Roberts put in, and how they saw massive revival in their time.

“If you want to see the kind of revival they saw, you have to do the kind of work they did. Don’t take it easy as a young minister of the gospel. If people tell you to do so, don’t listen to them. Take it hard. Hard work does not kill young people. We are in spiritual warfare here,” the Bishop said.

He expressed his displeasure on the way the work of the ministry is done today.

“Carnality everywhere,” the Bishop said. “We don’t call sin what it is anymore. A pastor will lie and say it’s the slip of the tongue, when we are supposed to slap him for what he did. A pastor will sleep with another woman and we’ll say it’s his weakness. What is going on? Sin is a sinker. You can succeed in ministry and still end up in hell. Saul wanted to keep the throne, but at the end, he lost both the throne and his God. But when David sinned, he told God to take everything except his Holy Spirit, and he kept the throne and kept his God.”

“Those days Oral Roberts will start a program,” he continued. “He’ll only know when the program will start but he will not know when it will end. He will lay hands on over 2000 people individually. These days, you’ll see a pastor preach one service on Sunday, and take a vacation on Monday. How can I take breakfast before I come to preach on Sunday? There is an urgency in my assignment. As a pastor, you watch football on Saturday, and you want something to happen on Sunday morning? You are joking.”

It is our prayer that his convicting message will spark a new dawn in the lives of ministers of the gospel today, causing a change in their attitude to ministry. This is spiritual warfare, and Satan is not taking breaks as he tries to win the souls of men, and take them to hell with him. Every minister of the gospel should wake up from their slumber, and accept responsibility, as the return of our Lord approaches.
